As a hunter I have traveled many a mining road as well as logging roads, they are never straight as they either contour to nature, trying to stay away from bogs and major hills and also using what ever material nature provides.
I think that the road that KWG would put in will be the same ...esker to esker within reach of gravel pits and and using some overburden as fill.
The over burden would be laid down first ,compacted and covered with available gravel or crushed rock to try to even out the road.
As mentioned by BJ they could use heavy equipment ( bulldozers, front end loaders ,large trucks and graders)on this road building, as they go,... bringing in small bridges to go over streams and using larger spans to go over small rivers.
Just my thoughts
