You are correct regarding IPRs and AIA. But this has been going on for a few years now.
EDIG should have recognized this at least two years ago and switched their focus more toward showcasing our technology. If hiring a business development person is the answer, then it should have been done long ago.
Building a new portfolio of patents while the whole patent infrastructure is under attack on many fronts doesn't seem like a good idea at all. Much larger and much better funded companies than e.Digtal are having major problems defending their own patents. So what we need are more patents. Really?
The rules are changing beneath their feet. Patents are no longer solid ground on which to be standing.
