No I dont think the re-exam can be cancelled after it has been filed and paid for. If it can then Edig lawyers should attempt to do this since it would be the best possible outcome.
I think the average time for a re-exam is something greater than 20 months now, so the best case would be they have it sometime next summer possibly. Hopefully the result of the re-exam is that nothing is changed in the claims of the patent.
The bad thing about a re-exam is that if there are changes, they can only narrow the scope of the claim, i.e. specifically state that no RAM can be present, not broaden it to say, RAM can be present. Edig would not want any claims to be narrowed.
