For what it's worth she didn't flat out say "No!". The door is not locked. The door is ajar. As any salesman like myself knows as long as you can get your foot in the door you have opportunity. It's now up to DM to find the right moment to take advantage of this opening. I believe they will know when and how to make the most of it.
