DVD quotes 35% decrease in ice cover in Arctic compared to previous decade but a better comparison is to centuries past. I have heard that present ice cover is half of historical. Similar, opposite situation is in Africa with Saharan desert expansion.
I could add disapearing glaciers in western Canada and Iceland or eskimos complaining for lack of 4 year and older ice. Do diminishing & starving polar bears have a say?

I'm all for development but it has to be responsible.

Visited Holland ( my nephew obtained a master's in envirinmental science there) and talked to a few people for their opinions. I usually inquire about European economy but environment is a frequent topic also. Concensus is that we are going to hell in a cart, economically and environmentally.

I am all for consultation with the native communities around the Ring. Noront seems to be doing an excellent job. Wish I could say same for Cliffs, who seem to be doing things 'The American Way'. That could hurt us or at the very least delay things.
In other words we could be tarred with the same brush.

But I am also cheesed off with native 'ownership' of land tens of kilometers away. Huh?

And yes it is off topic but if there is no pressing news available this can be on the main board, imho. I read everything, so thanks for the participation. Ed.
