There is a lot of reforestation out in the oil sands, as I understand it, although it isn't my own company that does it. But several million trees per year are planted by Suncor and/or Syncrude.

Actually, I don't think it would be very far north of MacMurray and the ground would become very similar to the muskeg of the Ring of Fire area. Someone said recently that the ROF is larger than Prince Edward Island. That really puts things into perspective ... for some reason I thought it was only about 15-20km across (which itself would be massive). Imagine a mineral deposit the site of our smallest province. PEI has a quarter million people living on it and it seems like a sleepy villlage. The development that can come out of the Ring will be unprecedented, whether it is now or a hundred years from now. Let's hope that the politicians and the FN's and the corporations can get onto the same page quickly. I believe that they will.
