Yup, body was designed by DeTomaso in cooperation with Ghia.  When they shipped the first ones to Ford, Ford tested them in their wind tunnel and it was the sleakest production car they'd ever tested.

Alejandro DeTomaso, a very rich Argentinian, later bought out Maserati.  At that time, he re-connected with Lee Iacoca (formerly Ford, then with Chrysler), and out came that Chrysler/Maserati car (same kind of deal as the Ford/DeTomaso Pantera), along with those early '80's Chargers with "DeTomaso" on the sides (DeTomaso was apparently involved in their design - which was pretty good).
