I never ever thought of the fact that the tax man is gonna tax you on the amount of interest that you have accumulated on your shares before you transfered them to TFSA. Only makes sense though ! So how do they know how much youve accululated on your shares. Ive bought shares at various prices. I suppose they take your average prices. I suppose if you put the money into the TFSA and then traded directly out of it then maybe there would not be any capital gains. Im thinking that at the present SP its gonna be small change anyway. 5000 doesnt buy that many anymore.
