I respectfully disagree with your "build your buying pressure" accumulation strategy.  Not good unless you know you have limited time before the top blows off the SP.  I'm not a great-white-shark-like chaser I guess.  I'm more of a Northern Pike, very very patiently lurking in the weeds waiting for prices to fall into my strike zone.  As for bids, I only stick my nose out of the weeds minimizing the visible buying thrust that I have hidden for secondary strikes (i.e. second and third bullets analogy).  

Caveat:  You have to be extremely patient and comfortable keeping stink bids in place for weeks and even months not knowing if the train left the station without you and is not coming back.  Anyway, when accumulating for the long haul, that's what I do to maximize my investment ROR.
