For me Resverlogix is about as pure a contrarian play as I've ever seen.
I try to imagine what someone brand new to Resverlogix would think. How would an experienced investor/trader, one who plays the market both long and short....how would this person see Resverlogix?
He would see a financially strapped company, with a management team that consistenly fails to deliver on expectations. He'd see a drug that failed its last trial, that is now nearing the end of a Phase 3 trial. But nobody, least of all Resverlogix itself, seems to have a decent handle on when it will end.
I think most would either simply walk away, or they might try to go short. However going short involves making "positive determination" that there are indeed shares available to be borrowed. If very few are available he could naked short RVX, however we've all seen what happened after RVX started showing up on the TSX Buy-In list because sellers had failed to deliver what they sold.
Seeing the potential for exponential growth I believe takes a lot more in depth DD and research and a wealth of scientific knowledge. But I believe that after reviewing all the current fundmamental information (all the facts that are publicly available) that the overwhelming majority would say: "$600 million CDN is WAY too expensive, overvalued on steroids".
Of course I also believe that if Resverlogix can tap into the financing they require (and I believe they will) and can show clinical Phase 3 success, then I think those same investors will later say that $5 or hopefully even $10+ billion USD is a bargain.
Being a contrarian is incredibly risky, and incredibly fun if you get it right.
That was a bit shorter.
