I have faith in stock manipulation because it happens, we've all seen it...that recent trade well above the ask is just a recent example.
Yes there are big fish and little fish, and the big fish eat the little fish, the stock market is a zero sum game....you either have shares or cash, you can't have your cake and eat it too, and you can't have the $$$ your shares are worth AND the shares....you have to choose.
$1.30 or whatever, good price or bad price...If you want to buy there has to be someone else willing to sell. If your a big fish and can borrow 1,000,000 shares and dump them back into the market and tank the PPS, all is fair. And if that price drop causes some longs to get scared and to sell 2,000,000 shares at a depressed price, then you can cover the short and add 1,000,000 shares to your long position....its how the game is played, I get it.
How many shares are in the hands of little retail fish? I don't know....but I would guess its not inconsequential....10, 20 maybe even 30+ million.
If Resverlogix attains a MC of even just $1 billion in USD, those shares would be very valuable....
When I first set up my yahoo account in the previous century I chose the name krill, because that's what I am....and even though whales swallow krill by the gazillions, this little one is still kicking around :-)
