I have personally seen a $700K hit to my portfolio...a paper hit...I haven't lost a cent..because I haven't sold at a loss..

The last sale I did,was a few months before this debacle hit, was on a met coal stock ..WTN and made $50 K profit and freed up $110K cash to play with and hold me over in a cash position while this dip in the market played out,which we all knew was coming ,blows over...

It is a matter of money management and taking profits and having cash reserves at ALL times..during the good times too..I have been in these cycles too many times and lost REAL money many times ,but got smarter as I got more experienced in playing this game..It is a matter of dicipline..a learned skill for me..and not an easy lesson..it took many whippings to smarten me up...

I'm no smarter than most,just may have had more whippings ..

I got old too fast and smart too late..
