I do see even bigger long term consequences for the US-economy in relations with all other countries, e.g. now Mexico:

Using trade as a political weapon is no good idea. Many - possibly most foreign companies will think twice to cope with US companies which have a kind of monopoly. This is related to hard- and software, but also to strategic raw material like rare earth minerals.

Woe to those companies being excommunicated by Mr. Trump & Co!
