They are bringing a recap on the integrated photonics part of the Intel Lab 2020 event, and then adding their comment (translated):
Unfortunately, Intel researcher James Jaussi left open the question of when Intel processors with optical interconnects could come onto the market. This would be the decisive question, because Intel has been publishing the successes of its optoelectronics laboratories for at least 16 years now, but these have rarely manifested themselves in mass production.
