The point I was trying to make is they will have access to one piece of the puzzle and the many other pieces are what makes the platform possible. I just don't think they are nearly advanced enough to replicate and the pressure is on for China to act according to international laws. Now if they can produce their piece of the puzzle (and in high enough volume at the new DL facility) to satisfy their own market then eventually they may have an interest to expand beyond China's demand.
The point of the conversation that our forum member had was that they are not going after the other parts.
Bottom line though is that I expect this tech will be built all over the world as an extension of the existing semiconductor industry. POET is going to be an international company. The foundation has already been built with operations now in 5 countries.
The other thing to consider is that where is China’s advantage? It is in cheap labor. The optical interposer engine does not really require cheap labor. This is why assemby and test is being considered for both the east and the west.
