The term "industrial press release" is a term that I am not used to as opposed to a general "news release". I kind of suspected that any announcement of a product would be at the conference and more for the industry itself while not being for dissemination to the general public (as the general public would presumabley not understand the significance anyway).

It’s a 1550nm Narrow Linewidth Laser (InP), featuring industry-leading performance and “super-wide” tunability for high resolution sensing applications, such as gas & chemical sensing, coherent communication, meteorological sensing and atmospheric LIDAR. Engineering samples and tech doc’s are now in customers hand and additional development works, including the incorporation of dielectric waveguides and wafer-level packaging, are already in the pipeline."

As part of the InP platform, I do take this to be wonderful news that opens the door to all kinds of products. As we know, the eventual incorporation of dielectric waveguides and wafer-level packaging bolded by me makes such products 'disruptive' in terms of their cost to produce. That's in the roadmap. That's in the overall plan.
