Good question.
My best guess (hypothetical scenario) is they would await the completion of the prototypes before even making the decision to use POET's VCSELs.
Suresh quoted from the CC transcipt "The transfer is also underway of our proprietary VCSEL fabrication process to our commercial foundry partner, with first VCSEL and transistor results expected in Q1 2016 and integrated VCSEL and detector components in the second quarter of 2016."
Once results are in and/if contracts were signed I don't think "granny smith company" would suppress the fact that they are using POET's disruptive technology. (Unless they have some sort of exclusitivity in their contract).
Apple appears to be on a big push as of late to appear "Green".

A nice news release saying "hey we're using this new tech, up to 10x power savings etc.. might go a long way to help their image (and ours).
Again, all hypothetical and just my opinion.
