True, some silicon will still be produced, but in relative terms it will be a tiny fraction of what it is now (which is all of it).

We're going to 40nm because the company thinks we can and it is all we need for now. it will be as fast as anything silicon has to offer, cost less to produce and for giant server farms, be an absolute saviour in cooling costs alone.

Silicon, for all intents and purposes, will be dead.
