LOL! Thanks for making contact, maing!
Wow, I think his job is getting to him. Tell us what you really think, Chris:)
He's right though. I read a couple of articles on what makes a good takeover target and earnings are usually needed.
However, I know I have read of takeovers that were done to secure IP (in some cases because patent infringement litigation was already underway).
Let's also recall that Taylor himself can be heard to say that he thought the laser + complementary logic (MS3 +MS6) could plausibly result in bids for the company. Having said that, we were only talking about bids and hot hostile takeovers, so I assume he was thinking it was going to be a friendly offer.
As I've been saying since SH, there are several layers of protection for POET, which are the patents, followed by the trade secrets which is the leverage Taylor's team can use to refuse an offer they don't like. This is what Chu is saying in his comical second paragraph.
Still. Chris needs to understand that information has always been in short supply with this company and we are only just seeing an improvement in this area. Anyone following this story as long as we have understands why the discussions we have range between rational and paranoid.
I would rather he make his frustration with shareholders less obvious when responding to legitimate questions.
