Not necessarily defending Gloria, but defending "the numbers"....
Why do you think Gloria charges, at her normal place of business for her CPA firm, $350/hr.? Is this cost purely for her services? No Overhead, in a prime Silicon Valley location? I suggest you check the cost of comparable office space in Silicon Valley. I used to live there, and a main reason for moving was living expense ($950/month for a small, old 2-br apartment - in 1982!). No subordinates/employees? No other costs of business, just her time?
Having said that, how much of that $350/hr goes for overhead/sundrie expenses? 10%? 20%? 50%?
I'll take the easy path that makes the point. Assume OH, etc., is 20% of fee (an ultra-conservative WAG). That would work out to $70/hr.
So, when she is performing BoD functions out of her place of business, she reportedly grosses $75/hr., less $70/hr., for a net adjusted gross income of $5/hour. As income in a high bracket, in CA, her after-tax net is about $3/hr. when performing as a member of the BoD.
All based on numbers disclosed by Gloria, with a conservative assumption re: expenses.
But consider this: what if her OH rate is 50%? She takes a $100/hr. loss for time dedicated to PTSC.
Sometimes you have to think below the surface to better understand.
