Sorry it took so long for my response..Blunist hit the nail on the head IMO..smaller companies can be more nimble than (some) of the big boy..a notable exception would be Google / Cisco..those guys move fast to the punch IMO. While pure conjecture on my part (as I don't know the inner workings of HP), I suspect that what Blunist has stated (and what I have stated in the past) is accurate. Ya snooze ya lose..as the old saying goes..very true in acquisitions. Some executives within HP may have been pushing for the Crossflo acquisiton for all that we know..and may have fell by the wayside to something that someone else perceived as a higher priority at the time. Also, RG may have had a little more foresight in the "need" for the product. Right place..right time..sometimes it pays to be a little lucky..and be a more nible..i.e."David" ready with the slingshot.
