Windfall Lake Gold Project Update

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 7, 2007) - Noront Resources Ltd. ("Noront") (TSX VENTURE:NOT) Noront is pleased to report the following progress at the company's Windfall Lake project situated in Urban Township northeast of Val d' Or, Quebec.

The company received a permit to carry out an underground exploration program on the project.

On November 13, the surface contractors, Inc "Norascon" of Amos, Quebec, commenced stripping of overburden at the portal site. Norascon will install ore and waste pads, settling ponds, access roads and the initial ramp slot. Norascon has adjusted its work plan to complete this work prior to the Christmas break. Early completion is contingent on reasonable weather conditions.

Monteria Expert, the company's underground contractor, plans to install surface facilities over the Christmas break in anticipation of commencing the ramp by mid-January 2008.

The mining contracts are being supervised by Genivar Inc., Noront's engineering and technical consultants.

The exploration ramp is planned in two phases. The first phase will investigate three zones including the NOT-06-100 area. The second phase is contingent on the success of the first and is designed to test five additional zones.

Noront completed the 2007 surface drilling campaign in early November and is currently completing logging and sampling of the core.

RECENT APPOINTMENT

The Company is pleased to report that Mr. John Harvey has been appointed as Executive Vice President of the company. John Harvey with over 45 years experience in mineral exploration, has previously served as Vice President, Exploration, Mattagami Lake Mines Ltd; President, Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd. and President and CEO of Hemlo Gold Mines Ltd. He has been a part time Senior Consultant with Noront in recent years and has guided the Windfall Lake Gold project, in northwestern Quebec through to its present advanced stage of underground exploration and advisor to Noront's exploration team at the Double Eagle project in northeastern Ontario.
