I believe it is a question of gold particle size distribution throughout the entire deposit. If the visible gold particles do not make up the bulk of the gold in the deposit (ie the size of particle that makes the whole deposit economical), which I think is the case here where our average particle size is pretty small, then you would be misrepresenting the gold distribution in the deposit by cherry picking those samples for assay.
