Instead of being on the safe side, maybe the core should have been cut at 45 deg. from where it was cut so only half of the viseable gold goes to the lab. It is there so why would you try to hide it from sampling.

Sample sent-- low grade

Sample kept-- high grade

Cut halfway thru viseable gold-- proper grade ??
