via CEO.ca - Murray Pezzim, Don Macleod And The Eskay Creek Gold Rush
Considering that Saskatchewan is a flyover province with no mountains or glaciers, its probably little wonder that people don't believe that gold can exist north of the Churchill River.
The problem is not so much providing drill results, but raising capital. In a rush for REE, the Hoidas lake deposit attracted no interest. In an historic gold bull market, the deposits in La Ronge are faced with an unusual bear market in gold mining stocks.
Gold was in a bear market during the 1980's, the prospects in B.C. discussed in the T.V. news special on B.C. mining development are all from that era. The La Ronge Gold prospect is also from that era, and you can draw an analogy between Roy Lloyd and Tom Mclean. La Ronge was deemed 'The New Hemlo' much like B.C. prospects of the time.
But you can see how dirty a job mining is.
