via FRED - Negative Interest Rates

One thing you might anticipate in coming weeks should markets sell off, is negative nominal rates at the short end of the curve. My guess is that this will be the factor in pushing gold into backwardation, meaning the near futures or spot price eventually trades higher than the longest dated futures, much like the oil market is trading now.

St. Louis Fed's blog, FRED posted a detail on negative nominal rates in Switzerland and Denmark, but you would be hard pressed to find the same for Germany.

Negative rates don't seem to exist in history, either if you go back far enough. It seems that negative rates are simply impossible, that they have never occurred, and if they have they must be an anomalous mistake. They have occurred in history, TIPS yields are negative, and Euro Zone rates are negative.

Rates should be showing negative in 1938.

Delayed market depth for GBN.V is showing a decline in shares being offered, and an increase in the number of bids. This is the first time in a couple of years.

Nothing new to report on the company, except that they must report audited year end financials for fiscal 2014, which ended in April this year, sometime this August.

And there have been major shifts in the asset-liability mismatch on the balance sheet for Q3, plus the Waterton deal was to have closed May 9 at the latest. Another thing that we are awaiting in the new engineering report, meaning a PEA for the next phase of production, plus probably the announcement that permitting has been issued.
