The company whose shareholders were better than its management
I'll just make two more important comments on why it makes a lot more sense for a major to buy out Aurelian now than buy out a Kinross later.
We all know for a fact that Aurelian has numerous untapped resources in Ecuador. Kinross will go in there start drilling (and you know they have a lot more $$ to put into the drilling program) and find a lot more gold, silver, copper...whatever. We are at 14 million minimum right now. What will we be in a year 20-25-30 who knows. Then the mining law will be in place, production will be around the corner and will cost a Barrick a small fortune to buy Kinross.
My second point is around the price of gold. The consensus of almost all gold analysts is that gold is going higher, much higher. Say gold is 1,200 in a year....Kinross will want a heck of a lot more in a buyout then.
Just 2 more big reasons why it makes a lot more sense for a senior to snap up Aurelian now.
