I called TD Waterhouse today.

My TFSA was activated and ready for deposts - took two days from setting up the account to activation.

The agent transferred $5K worth on UC into the account - at no cost and all by telephone.

Now all I need is for UC to go to a buck in the next week or so and AM will be HM. Okay, two or three weeks would be okay ...
