Kemo, I read the sentence as saying both "primarily surrounding" AND "primarily within", so the holes are both on the perimeter and within the ovoid - there is no distinction between how many of the holes are in the surrounding area and how many are within, although it clearly states that TE-06 is on the northern flank of the ovoid.
