Here is a reference to the Campbell mine once owned by Placer Dome now merged with Goldcorps RedLake Mine ... also a greenstone belt ... http://www.mining-technology.com/pro...
Campbell is located in the eastern part of the Red Lake Greenstone Belt, in the Birch Lake/Uchi Lake sub-province of the Canadian Shield. The auriferous zones occur on the eastern border of a major archean tholeiitic volcanic complex. The gold occurs as either free gold or is in sulphide minerals, mainly arsenopyrite, pyrite and pyrrhotite. A minor amount of silver occurs with the gold.

In common with Goldcorp Inc’s Red Lake Mine, Campbell Mine and Cochenour-Willans Mine, the BCD lies within the Balmer Assemblage. The structural and mineralogical characteristics are very similar to the aforementioned mines. Gold is found in both its native form as well as within sulphide rich zones – particularly those with ‘felted’ fine grained arsenopyrite
It seems this type of occurance is common among greenstone belts. Time will tell if the BG area is as lucrative as Red Lake.
