On the lighter side

This link will be interesting to anyone interested in genius and great music. I've known John since his college days at Rutgers and worked on and off with him for many years but I much preferred listening to him play alone. You Left coasters out there are lucky because he relocated to California and reunited with his first wife, after 40 years or so. He'll be missed here in the East. Unfortunately John has had a problem with booze and drugs for much of his adult life. The last time I saw him he was straight. Hopefully he hangs on. I'm not giving up any secrets here. It was well known. For whatever reason, John shunned the public spotlight and that's why he's not well known. He is basically shy, though.

This clip doesn't do justice to his genius. For your info, the first tune is based upon a standard 12 bar Blues that John composed. The second is an old standard called " A Beautiful Friendship". He has quite a few albums out there but some may be out of print.

I haven't spoken to him since he moved. I think it's time I do. Enjoy!
