GoPro Camera Rips Off Polaroid Cube, Licensee Says

Law360, Los Angeles (November 3, 2015, 4:49 PM ET) -- A Polaroid Corp. licensee lobbed a patent infringement suit at GoPro Inc. on Tuesday in New Jersey federal court, accusing the wearable camera maker of copying its Polaroid Cube camera with a similarly shaped GoPro camera.
GoPro’s Hero4 Session product, the company's first cube-shaped camera, which launched in July, is a departure from the design of GoPro’s previous cameras and infringes a patent held by long-term Polaroid licensee C&A Marketing Inc., according to a 12-page complaint.
