Thanks sman998 for pointing this part of the 10 q report!
With the inception of patent license revenue in fiscal 2009, we determined that we have two operating segments: (1) patent licensing and enforcement and (2) products and services. Our patent licensing and enforcement revenue consists of intellectual property revenues from our patent portfolio. Our products and services revenue has been derived from the sale of eVU products and accessories to customers, warranty and technical support services and content integration fees and related services. During the second quarter of fiscal 2015 we ceased marketing eVU products and accessories but continue to provide services to our existing customers under existing contracts. We intend to terminate providing eVU services after existing contract terms are complete by September 2015.
It got me to wonder about what Edig is really up to? This paragraph starts with the idea that Edig is split into ( 2 ) segments as we all have known. Now at the bottom of the paragraph it states that the EVU segment is no more ( without so much as any defining reason behind the decision ) .?
Pretty much everyone here has thanked someone / anyone for the EVU revenue that has helped somewhat steady edigs bottom line!
I can think of only ( 3 ) reasons as to why Edig would do this:
1) The cost of doing this segment is too high with dwindling returns? Possibly the fact that the evu is no longer needed anywhere.? Not cost effective / but the q -10 shows that the evu $ are somewhat consistent qt. over qt. / Edig is to lose the EVU contracts that they have.?
2) Edig has shifted gears / is totally focused on the next generation IP / litigation / licenses / this , to me , would seem to indicate that there is promise in this direction in the Edig teams minds,?
3) Edig could be losing a key team member that is the tech support for the Evu segment.? Maybe it would be difficult to replace a tech. cost effectively? ( this one is just a way out of the box thought )
Bottom line to me is the fact that Edig did not expand on the reasons for dumping the EVU segment & it is one part of Edig that Edig and most here have counted on!
This should give us pause because I think that we are at THE CROSSROADS .
Again, I would really like to here what others think.
IMHO
