The APEX Technology Committee (TC) approved revised MPEG-4 settings in WAEA 0403 and looked ahead to a content delivery supply chain built on file-based workflow, interoperable masters, mezzanine files and transcoding integrated into the content delivery process as it devoted the first day of its 2-3 November meeting in Los Angeles to content issues. The second day considered connectivity issues, hybrid systems using portables technology, and inflight content delivery to passenger-owned devices.

Throughout the two-day meeting, an overriding theme was the new focus of the TC under the expanded purview of APEX and leadership of the new TC chair, Jonathan Norris of Airbus, who told attendees that the group was considering such locations as Hamburg, Madrid, Sao Paulo, and Dubai as TC meeting sites in addition to regular Southern California venues.

As APEX focuses on the broader passenger experience, the TC is now considering the technolo-gies that impact that experience, including the airport experience with kiosks, lounges and au-tomated check-in and boarding. To assist APEX members, the TC is attempting to launch an ―IFE FAQ,‖ a
