Because DM added some attorneys to its ranks does not mean necessarily that they are doing better than everybody else. They might very well be trying to increase the size of their firm on the cheap. To wit, they pick and choose whom they hire from the failed firms in the hope that the new partners (most likely the best of the failed firm) will bring to them their clients too. This is an very old devise used for growth of revenues.
