My recollection and understanding from shareholder meeting reports is that the '100's of millions' statement relates to the entire first phase of the strategy as the total expected from ALL infringers targeted in phase one.
Your calculations assume that the tech being targeted in phase one exists in every cell phone that LG sells. I seriously doubt that.
LG's settlement may very well be significant to us but there are some key factors which indicate it isn't as huge as you suggest...
1. They settled first, in 'record time', out of court, and without a fight.
2. We cross-licensed technology from them - no doubt having the effect of reducing the amount of cash that they had to lay out.
I'm excited too but I'm not THAT excited. 1M+ can be safely assured I think. 5M+ would be nice and anything over 10M will be most excellent, IMO.
So with all due respect, speculating an amount over 50M from just this one (and the first) settlement is just as unreasonable as guessing that it's less than 1M. Trust me, the truth is somewhere in-between.
