I completely agree.  Another advantage to the one time payout that takes into consideration the growth of the markets over the life of the patents is that it is easier for investors better understand the valuation process. 

Rather than a small upfront settlement with some sort of poorly understood licensing fee process, the market can better sink its teeth into the numbers.
