"Could we really be using a hybrid HDD (HDD plus Flash) in the EVU to achieve the enhanced battery performance in addition to improving overall performance of our EVU?"

I had considered them doing that before they announced the increase in ability. When I read that statement of increase it immediately came to my mind that the DigEplayer is definitely not the same design. IMO, the ventured effort involved in the DigEplayer was security. They gave Hanson/Boyer exactly what they asked for...while knowing exactly the component set need to dive their tech to a slim degree of competitive power consumption.

I feel they were/are smarter than most on this board give credit...including contracts...lol.

I've just reviewed Hanson's patent App.....I mean recipe....There is no explanation of what types of components are to be used, just what he would like it to do. IMO...e.Digital was retarding any full ability for future advancement....selling in small increments as the industry does....We all suffer it. It never seems to come to a climax...IMO, some day it will, maybe...lol.

Flash it self is power conservative....you only need turn it on when data is needed....perhaps e.Digital has tweaked an as needed switching mechanism. They could have multi flash configured...one small for OS and device configuration being on 100%...with yet a 2nd sizable flash having current large file content in sleep or dead mode...lol.

Where ever the files are generated from, the power burn is at a small cache, microcontroller, & display. For continuous movie play...those components now equate to 20 hrs.

The real value in there tech is at file creation and management with regard to power consumption. They have a lot more to sell than the one way bit stream of the eVu or DigEplayer.
