The technique in which the audio and video files are streamed through the high speed cache arrangement are not typical. It's a non homogenous system...meaning that the video and audio are stored together.

Where in a homogenous system, like files are stored separately such as.. .avi, the files are stored separate in a basket, requiring an additional process to bring them together. This is a process that DigEcore was after.

IMO...they where trying to get the attributes of .avi on a proprietary process of e.Digital.

AS I have quoted over and over......"the file system of the present invention is adaptable to use many conventions of existing file structures currently in use so that it may be considered hardware independent."

What that means,  the e.Digital process can drive a .avi process under its proprietary structure and be recognizable to the higher OS. It can make it happen with out the use of translation hardware...which again is a power burden to a system.
