You file a cross complaint against (1) the guy who sued you along with the ANSWER to his complaint, and/or (2) you file a cross complaint aginst a third party and bring them in as the party responsible...

My take was the company was refering to cross complaint against digEcor, as they distinctly made a point that one of their agents had been to Maycam plant in January 2006...
