RVXoldtimer - I have had a number of private corporations in my RSP. It generally takes a valuation from a mid to large sized accounting firm to do that valuation that a trustee will accept. The woeness is always on the trustee to justify what they have done, or allowed to be done. Bottom line is the trustee wants a firm large enough to back up their claim or have enough size to be taken to task in a court setting.
