Problem is, that occasionally these little juniors get halted, release some great numbers and then open way higher. I have no problem with shorting, but shorting small cap could kill you.
To make meaningful money on a junior, you would need to short a lot of it. To make $10,000 shorting Tyhee, you would need to have short 100,000 shares and see a 10 cent drop. If they drill a discovery hole at big sky the share price could open off a halt at 1.00 higher. That would equate to a $100,000 loss. I couldn't take that.
On the other hand, when you short Barrick and you know they're not going to jump up more than a few percentage points in a day on a great day. I don't short mining at all. Mostly American Blue chips or buy short etf's like SDS, SKF...
