Exploration and production of oil and natural gas.
This is not a sign of trouble in my opinion. Just business. Greg Noval is a very smart man. He has many projects on the go: Libya, East Coast of Canada, Liberty Gas in New Jersey, WCSB. It makes perfect sense at this time to monetize or sell off 25% or more of the Intrepid Block 5(c) in Trinidad. To develop its holdings in Trinidad will cost a minimum of $500 million dollars to put in the infrastructure and bring the natural gas to market and it will take 3 years from now minimum!! It's better for shareholders for Canadian Superior to grow as a company, but to do that Mr. Noval needs cash. He is now a skilled "elephant hunter" having shot the great Trinidad elephant in the eye with his bow and arrow. Not once but 3 different times and with a second hand rig. Anyone who has studied his career by now knows that he will repeat these feats again. He is a skilled elephant hunter but hunting big game costs big cash and the only way to remain independant and grow bigger is to sell off SNG's Trinidad holdings. It all makes sense to me. But any sale must be at Mr. Noval's price. I don't know for sure but I have a suspicion that Craig McKenzie was hired at the request of British Gas to run SNG's Trinidad operations and to negotiate the deal with BG. We know that the original deal gave operatorship of the Intrepid 5(c) bloc to BG once the Endeavour well was completed. The question is what did the rest of the deal include? The framework to monetize the sale of part or all of SNG's Trinidad holdings? Now Endeavour 1 has been completed and Craig McKenzie is gone having left when it was half drilled. McKenzie was the ex BG employee and President of BG's operations in Trinidad. He oversaw the 3 wells drilled and most likely worked out the deal as BG trusted him and he left before the deal came into the light of day (so it can't be traced back to him). This is my speculation ......no fact to this at all, just my suspicion.
Cheers; Scott
