Here's a post I thought I'd duplicate here to hopefully generate some interest and discussion. SLAM Bulletin Boards have "quieted down" considerably over the last week or so while we await some assay results. At any rate, the post below was in response to a fellow "SLAMMER's" question regarding prospects of the current Fort Hope drill program.
I'm looking forward to the results from the Fort Hope drill program, but to be honest with you, probably moreso from a geological viewpoint (having worked the Opikeigan property myself years ago) than as an investor. With SLAM drilling adjacent to the previous exploration shaft - the same shaft where the historic bulk sample returned 9 ozs. gold per tonne - the chances of intersecting gold mineralization are quite promising.
Having said that, the width and mineralization in quartz bearing gold veins can vary greatly. It is quite common for veins to "pinch and swell" so, as I said, the widths can vary along strike and at depth. The same is true for the grades. With native/vg (visible gold), the "nugget effect" is quite common. So you may intersect the vein and it may provide highly economic/ore grade assays in one hole, and a hole drilled right next to it may not contain any gold at all. In fact, you could assay two halves of the core and one may return incredibly rich values (native gold was present) whereby the other half of the core could return radically lesser (or greater) values. Such is the "nature of the beast".
With no apparent evidence of any past drilling at the Fort Hope Mine, there's some excitement generated by this program, even though it's surely not being reflected in trading activity.
Anyway, I hope this helps somewhat. Have a great weekend!
