To do this the US has to use monetary easing (printing money). They can't even pay their interest without borrowing more. Chinese treasury holdings are losing value daily as the Fed does this. How long are they going to put up with this?

Make no mistake. The US is still the superpower. We are watching the beginning of its decline, but we're nowhere near there yet. Remember: Rome lasted another 300 years after Caligula. No other country even comes close in terms of the size of its economy, and especially the amount of force they can direct anywhere in the world.

China is just building its first aircraft carrier. The US maintains 11 Carrier Battle Groups. The Chinese holding US paper means nothing in the face of a single Battle Group in the South China Sea. This sort of disparity holds in comparison of their armed forces in every measure except number of troops, and that is largely irrelevant. Anyone who thinks the Chinese or the Russians or Japanese or the Indians or ANYBODY are ready to step in and police and maintain order in any void of force that the US might decide to leave in the world is sadly mistaken.
