Historically yes, but the abysmal state of the US economy and their unrelenting fiscal crisis will end their global dominance sooner than later.

To do this the US has to use monetary easing (printing money). They can't even pay their interest without borrowing more. Chinese treasury holdings are losing value daily as the Fed does this. How long are they going to put up with this?
