There's one way out of this for the US. They have reportedly 8,133 tonnes of gold in Fort Knox. That's ~261,500,000 ounces with a book value of $42.22 per ounce for a total of $11.04 billion. They just need to revalue their gold by a factor of 1,268 times and that $14 trillion problem is every gold bugs retirement package. Somehow I don't think an ounce of gold will ever be worth $53,256, but you never know what the real value will be. 25 ounces of gold may get you that house next door to Rookie's.
