With a total cummulated debt in excess of 14 billion
I think everyone noticed the misspeak, however it gives me an in to make a comment. The number is actually TRILLION and that is only debt not including the unfunded liabilities going forward. Unlike Canada the US has no money put away in any sort of fund for Social Security, and retirees today are paid with taxes of workers today. With the ever increasing shift to socialized medicine, on top of already existing pharmacare and medicaid etc., the US government has close to 60 trillion of unfunded liabilities to the future generations. I used to laugh when Al Gore (the habitual liar) talked about the social security "Lock Box" when he was running for president. Is it any wonder that the majority of the US population goes through life like zombies without a clue as to the dire situation they are in.
