The US is considering a 2 year tax holiday on capital gains "earned" in the equities markets!

That would no doubt initiate an exodus of CANADAN investors to the US, unless the "red tories" who currently manage the Canadian tax system pre-empt the American move! When Harper and Co can't even remove a tax on a tax (gasoline) their heads will never get around a tax holiday on capital gains.

The Bahamas because of their tougher residency laws enacted in recent years are no longer an option for conservative minded Canadians (K C Irving's heirs one of the last publisized examples of newly planted resident Bahamians, leaving the Dominion for solely tax reasons) the U S may become a credible tax haven.
