I doubt it, personally. Here's what I think happened: Don and the board couldn't close a deal post-BOM to their liking. COVID probably did screw that up a bit, at least at first. But with that, along comes this opportunity to see if apabetalone might be able to help with the covid situation. They chase it, knowing the possible immense upside (as did Eversana). But they bumble and fumble along, have difficulties getting the trial registered with Canadian regulators, finally, after 2 years of preparation they finally start and within a couple months the data looks bad - at least for their chosen indication and population. They cancel it, figure out with the FDA what they'll accept for a phase 3 given the data collected. Now the table is set and they're back to negotiating a deal, but this time they don't have the luxury of refusing.
My gut instinct is a deal will come soon but the terms of that will be what determines the share price. It might be an outright sale heavy on milestones or CVRs, it might be a big license given to a funder (Hepa?) for more territory. It might be something else. It might end up like BTI (yikes). It might be for just Covid, it might be for just BOM2, it might be for both. Who knows.
